I am coming home to New York and excited to announce that I will be hosting my first Bliss Brunch in New York City this Saturday, November 22nd. Already, over fourteen girls have expressed interest in attending, and all of these women are brilliant, witty and beautiful.
As many of you know, I have hosted brunches around the country and in Canada to bring together bi and bi-friendly women for conversation, friendship and flirtatious fun. Usually the brunches last two to three hours because it is rewarding and empowering to share the stories a bi-girl just cannot tell her straight friends.

I was wondering of you had some advice…
I made a careless mistake a few weeks back. A friend of mine set me up on a date, and to my surprise, people I work with were at the same bar. I had no idea, and they saw my date and I kiss at the end of the night, so I kind of “outed” myself as a bisexual man to my coworkers. Now there are rumors spreading like wildfire around the office and I’m not sure what to do next.
A few weeks have passed, but the gossiping is still going strong. Some of the people I would go to happy hour with after work are no longer interested in going, and a few people are now trying to set me up with their gay friends. Some “friends” have also decided to introduce me to others with a sexual orientation attached.
Something that is also interesting, I told two girlfriends of mine I was bi. One girl is a lesbian and the other is straight, and they both think I’m gay, and guys can not be bisexual and they have distanced themselves, as well. I know what you are thinking, “then they weren’t really my friends” which is cool with me, but it is frustrating.
In my personal experience, more than 75% of the women, and 90% of the men I have discussed this with, think that men cannot be bisexual, and use the word “bisexual” as a term to ease people into the reality of them being gay. One point a female coworker attempted to make to me, is that she would never date a bisexual guy because she thinks he will cheat on her with another man, and when I asked her what would keep a bisexual women from cheating on a man with another women, she told me guys are different.

Dearest Bi and No One Believes Me -
The sad thing is MOST people don’t believe bisexuality exists in men or women. “It’s a phase,” they say, that either ends in marriage (so you are now “straight”) or in a gay relationship (so you are now “gay.”)
It is even harder in our current culture for bi-men to gain respect than bi-women because bi-women are fetishized in porn, advertising and media - which to straight people makes them seem “truly bi”. But when a man is interested in another man (even if he generally dates women - or consistently continues to love women) he is gay.
1. ARE YOU READY TO BE A LEADER?
So, my dear man, it seems you are potentially in a position of leadership. Are you ready to be the bi man in the office? The bi man in your friends’ lives? Are you ready to continue to remind others that you are NOT gay but truly bi and proud?
2. SOMETIMES THE UNIVERSE ENCOURAGES US TO COME OUT
Sometimes the universe places us in a situation where we have to come out. Circumstances have forced you to face your bisexuality in your office. Sure, some people will not invite you to happy hour for awhile. Keep doing what you are doing. Keep being you. Do you have a close friend in the office? Someone you can go out drinking with until others come around? With one friend, it’s a lot easier to go through this kind of storm.
3. IT IS ONLY THROUGH KNOWING BISEXUALS THAT STRAIGHT FOLKS LEARN THEY ARE “REAL”
Unfortunately, many women - even bisexual women - do not necessarily believe there are male bisexuals. One of my dear friends is a bi boy. I recently introduced him to a fab writer friend of mine. They became fast close friends and she began introducing him to her friends as her “Number One Gay”. He was naturally upset by this because she was denying his bisexuality. Each time she said it, he continued to correct her saying, “No, I am bi.” So now when she introduces him to her friends she tells this story and ends on, “He’s my Number One Bi.” It took awhile, but thanks to my friend for standing strong and being proud, one more person knows that bi men really do exist.
We are all fighting to be seen and understood. When one of us is outed - even in a humiliating way - it is for a reason. Even though it can feel uncomfortable and embarrassing, it feels better to live honestly. It feels wonderful when you can say, “Yes, I am bi and it is wonderful.” Keep being proud of who you are. The others will come around.

HAPPY BISEXUAL AWARENESS DAY!
Written by Miss Bliss on September 23, 2008 – 10:42 am -All around the country and the world, bisexuals are coming together to celebrate our unique culture. So many events are happening today and this weekend to demonstrate that bisexuality is a stable identity with a rich history.
According to Wikipedia, Bisexual Awareness Day began in 1999 when three activists, Wendy Curry, Michael Page, and Gigi Raven Wilbur decided the bisexual community needed more visibility. Wilbur said, “Ever since the Stonewall rebellion, the gay and lesbian community has grown in strength and visibility. The bisexual community also has grown in strength but in many ways we are still invisible. I too have been conditioned by society to automatically label a couple walking hand in hand as either straight or gay, depending upon the perceived gender of each person.”
So what can you do to celebrate your unique sexuality and bring more awareness of bisexual culture to the world?
- Tell a good friend you are bisexual. You just might discover s/he is bisexual too!
- Attend a bisexual event in your city. (Please visit my EVENTS page at blisswarrior.com for listings or visit BiNetUSA.)
- Organize an event for bi-girls in your area. Amazing bliss warriors have organized events in LA, NY, Albuquerque, Seattle, Detroit, Toronto, and Miami and so can you! Being a leader is scary at first, but the rewards are endless.
- Volunteer at your local Gay and Lesbian Center. We will only be the big “B” in LGBT when we make ourselves an active part of the community. This weekend I’m volunteering at the Hollywood LGBT center, calling folks to ask them to vote no on Proposition 8 - the legislation attempting to overturn gay marriage in California. It’s a great way to meet new people and show our community is active and vital.
- Join a bisexual group. There are more and more bisexual networks opening up online. Almost all of them can be found at the wonderful new myspace page BiNetUSA has created. Just check out their Top Friends and you will find an organization near you.
To celebrate Bisexual Awareness Day, the marvelous team at Hotel Bliss is bringing you a new service:
BI-MONTHLY BI ONLINE CHATS WITH BLISS WARRIOR AT HOTEL BLISS.
Starting next Tuesday the 30th at 6pm PST and at 9pm EST, all Hotel Bliss members are invited to join me for online chats about bisexual issues. For two hours, everyone who is a member can share stories, ask questions and seek support in an anonymous, private forum. (Even though you are logged in, you can choose to be anonymous in the chat, just make up a name.) The first topic will be, “What is wonderful about being bisexual and what is difficult?”

NOT SEEKING BARBIE - Tales from the San Diego Brunch

“You know why they flag your posts on Craigslist,” says a fetching brunette wearing dark sunglasses. “Because you are a real girl. Craigslist will post the most outrageous fake stuff from some creepy guy pretending to be a girl - but if you actually are a woman? Flagged right away!”
Twenty-two bi and bi-friendly women came together for brunch in San Diego on a warm Saturday in July. Unfortunately for me, I got stuck in four hours of Comic-Con traffic on Interstate 5 and arrived right when the bill was being passed around. Luckily for me, half of the girls offered to extend the afternoon by having a drink a block and a half away in a dive bar. We are out back on the patio, musing on why our ads keep getting flagged on Craigslist.
“I think it’s unhappy lesbians,” I say. “They have so much hostility towards bi-girls and don’t think we should be posting on w4w. I wish Craig would make a section for just bi personals.”
“It’s not lesbians,” says the brunette emphatically. “It’s Craigslist’s aversion to REAL ads from REAL girls that is the problem.”
“I think the second anyone sees ‘bi’ in an ad, it gets flagged. I could not keep an ad about this brunch up for more than five minutes without it being taken down, no matter how much I begged for it not to be flagged.”
“But I didn’t have bi or bisexual anywhere in my ad,” the brunette says. “I wrote the sweetest, most normal ad ever. Seriously! I titled it ‘Not Seeking Barbie’, and wrote that I was a girl looking for a non-plastic real girl. The sweetest most genuine ad ever! Not seeking Barbie! I described myself and what I was looking for - followed all the rules for a w4w post and NEVER mentioned I was bi. Five seconds later, it’s flagged!”
“And the creepiest, grossest, obviously fake ads where some guy is seeking three women to stick live animals up his behind never get flagged,” laughs a tall gorgeous redhead.
“Oh, you saw my ad,” jokes the brunette and the two of them laugh.
“Have you written to Craigslist and asked them why your post was flagged,” asks our sweet hostess with cropped hair.
“I have tried,” I say, “but they send you to this completely unhelpful page where a ‘flagging’ expert is supposed to write you back, but they make it so cryptic it’s like you are just supposed to get frustrated and give up.”
“So what do we do if we can’t post on Craigslist,” asks another pretty girl in polka dots.
The conversation moves again to various topics: pride, lesbian-bi tension, dating girls, turning straight girls… We laugh and talk and once again, I am amazed and delighted by the magical openness of bi women. Their sexual power, friendliness, joy and exuberance.
I turn to our hostess and event organizer and say, “Isn’t it amazing how far your group has come in less than a year?”
She smiles and says, “We are up to 100 members now. It is truly amazing! And look at what you’ve accomplished this year, too - the blog, the hotel, the cities you’ve visited…”
I smile at her and thank her for being the leader she is. Even with the frustrations we experience with Craigslist, we are slowly finding each other and for the first time, organizing.
“Next year,” the redhead announces, “we are going to have a Bliss Warrior float in San Diego Pride. It’s time to bring the real party to pride!”
I hug her and the many new friends I have made and slowly prepare myself for the drive back to LA.

In the last year, as you know, I have sponsored or attended brunches in Los Angeles, San Diego, New York, Albuquerque, Miami, and most recently, Toronto. At these meetings, bi-women come together to share stories, meet others like them, and build community. But what you may not know, is after those initial brunches, amazing bi-girls emerge to organize and coordinate future events.
In San Diego, we originally met with 8 women and now, thanks to the diligent hard work of our dear “Do It In the Dirt” (her Hotel Bliss handle) that group has 87 members and is growing. Each month they host events in S.D. and are amazing, wonderful, sweet and sexy girls. On Saturday the 26th of July at noon, I will be joining the group for brunch and truly hope all S.D. girls reading this will join us for community and flirtatious fun.
Last month, I met the marvelous Water Lily (her Hotel Bliss handle) when the gorgeous Gryphon co-hosted my first brunch in Canada. Water Lily had such a good time, she immediately planned the group’s second brunch which happened this past weekend. Yesterday, she posted a blog about the brunch on the Hotel Bliss Guest Blog and I realized it would be a great idea to repost the blog here, so you could read about it, and perhaps, be inspired to have a brunch in your hometown.
Toronto Brunch Reflections (June 28, 2008)

10 brilliant and brave bi-women met in Toronto today for brunch. There were no shy ladies in this gathering of open-mindedness. Within a short span of 2 hours our conversations covered all things sexual. What is it with straight friends? we wonder. Why can’t we talk like this all the time? Why are straight women so boxed in? we ask. Having already established that we are bi-friendly, bi-curious, and bi-sexual just by showing up allowed us to open up the floodgates of our thoughts and feelings…
10 minutes into our brunch we were sharing body art, lifting up skirts and pulling off sleeves to gaze at each others’ tattoos. Each adornment had a story to share, offering a window to look into each others’ memories. What about childhood? we asked each other. It was plain to see that we were all highly sexual beings from the very start. One woman shared a story about playing ‘Man and Lady’ when she was a youngster…she always wanted to be the lady, of course. Masturbation was a most popular memory. Stories about playing, in an era of innocence, long before we were made to feel that masturbating should be kept secret.
Then we shared our ‘Top Drawer’ stories. Common, ladies, you know what the ‘Top Drawer’ is…….that special place where you stash your sex toys! And how it all goes to waste just sitting there, when we all wish that we could play dress-up and have a play-date with another like-minded woman. Mmmmmm.

The Brunch sadly ends, with hugs and kisses, and excitement for the upcoming Ladies Nite Out.
But, wait! A smaller group of us branches off and we head down to Seductions. We want to spend that gift certificate on something very special, of course. My fantasy suddenly becomes a reality. One of our gorgeous ladies is trying on corsets, and I get to go in the changing room with her and pull in her strings! Another beautiful babe finds a great book on bisexual erotica for women. One other luscious lady purchases a mini-vibrator, for keeping herself charged when she’s on the go! I buy a sexy pair of black high heels, and a glass cock.
This brunch went from hot, to hotter, to super-hot! I can’t wait to meet these gorgeous babes again…

SHALL WE PLAY A GAME? - ROUND 2

Hotel Bliss is almost ready for its public launch. After months of hard work and tireless dedication from the Hotel Bliss Team, we are weeks away from the site being completed.
I wanted to take a moment to appreciate the amazing, beautiful, sweet girls who have taken time out of their busy lives to help test, use, develop, and create the first private community for bi and bi-friendly girls.
In the last month, I have been traveling a great deal, which is bad for consistent blog writing, but great for meeting the lovely women who have joined Hotel Bliss. In Toronto, I hosted a brunch with the marvelous, Gryphon (her Hotel Bliss alias). We posted ads on Craigslist, and many bi women came out to dine with us for community and conversation who were not familiar with the Bliss Warrior blog or Hotel Bliss. One of the highlights of the meal, was hearing Gryphon describe her experience using the blossoming site.
“One of the things I love,” she said, “is the diversity of women. There’s everyone from the young goth chick who’s super sweet to the joyful woman in her 40s bouncing on a ball topless. Everyone is super sweet. In fact, what is surprising about the site is how kind and friendly all the girls are to one another.”
Shortly after the brunch, I was delighted to see how many of the girls I met joined the site and became active members. One lovely blonde with the alias, Water Lily, has already organized two more events for bi-girls to meet in Toronto and is using the site to organize, plan, and keep the community growing.
In Los Angeles last week, the luminous Beverly Fairfax and I hosted a brunch where half the women were Hotel Bliss users and the other half were girls new to Bliss Warrior who found us through Craigslist or Myspace. This was the first time where women who had met online at the Hotel, got to meet one another in person. There is something funny when girls only know each other through aliases. When one gorgeous curly-haired fox was sharing a hysterically funny story, Beverly turned to her and said, “Are you Double Entendre?”
She said, “Yes, I am. You’re Beverly Fairfax, right? Hi!” Already online acquaintances, now they were becoming real life friends.
Later, when the brunch was ending and we were paying the bill, one of our new friends asked how we would all connect or stay in touch and I promoted the site. Right away, Beverly said, “One of the nicest aspects about the Hotel is how intelligent the girls are on the site. It is not just a kind community, but a thoughtful one, too.”

1. Next Monday, we are starting Round Two of Bliss Warrior’s Slumber Party Game (CLICK HERE to read more about the game). Round One helped many bi-girls to become new friends when they each answered the question, “What is the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?” Each day, I posted a naughty answer on the Hotel Bliss site with three names of girls who may have written the answer. Users had 24 hours to guess who they thought wrote the answer and why. When I posted the winner of the last game, I posted a new naughty answer with three new naughty girls. As one user wrote me during the game, “Hotel Bliss is changing my life - I’m not kidding!” I think she was delighted by the many girls who got to know and adore her gorgeous self after reading her naughty answer.
2. Round Two is a little different from Round One because you can choose to answer one of two questions. The first is, “Describe a first time.” A first time can be with a boy or a girl, it can be sexual or not. As long as it is a first time, it qualifies you for the game. The second question you can choose to answer is, “Describe a fantasy you have masturbated to.” Already, many girls have have written to me with their answers and are excited for Monday when the game begins.

The one thing I frequently hear is that it is difficult to meet bi-girls. Well, it certainly is hard if you do not leave your house! In the last year, I have hosted and been the guest of numerous brunches for bisexual women across the country and in Canada, and do you know what I have learned? That each time a bi or bi-curious woman decides that she will be brave and do something she never thought she’d do… go out and meet strangers… every time, she has a marvelous time and is grateful she did not let fear keep her home. In fact, many of the most timid and shy girls who finally join me at brunch tend to be the ones who organize future events because they cannot believe how wonderful it was to meet other girls who truly are like them - oh, and did I mention fiercely hot, too?
So, if you are in Los Angeles, come out and meet the girls you really want to know. As any bi-girl can tell you, the conversation will be like no other.
