THE SECRET TO CURLY LOCKS

Are you a frizz factory? Are you sad that your curls are never in in smooth, shiny ringlets? Do you wake in the morning and the first thing you grab is your hair straightener?

Darling curly-haired girls, the problem is not your hair. The problem is SHAMPOO. Shampoo is the enemy of dry curly hair. Take all of your shampoos and throw them away (please recycle the bottles).

I know what you are thinking… Without shampoo, I’ll grow dreadlocks.

No, fair maidens, with proper care, you will get the amazing curls your shampoo has killed.

CONDITIONER - THE CURLY HAIR SHAMPOO
Instead of washing your hair with shampoo, wash your hair with a moisturizing conditioner every day. Make sure to scrub and massage your scalp. This will stimulate hair growth while distributed oils to the dry shafts of the hair. Let the conditioner sit in your hair through the rest of your shower. Then, rinse.

SQUEEZE YOUR LOCKS
Do not roughly dry your hair with a towel. This separates curls and creates frizz. Gently squeeze your hair from ends to roots until it’s close to dry.

MORE LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER
I recommend Pantene’s conditioner for curly hair. It’s inexpensive and works better than any pricey leave-in conditioner. I squeeze a quarter-sized amount gently from ends to roots, preserving the curl again. Gentle works!

TWISTS
Finally, as curls start to form, give some a twist to make a tighter curl, and just let air dry.

If your hair is too sticky, use less leave-in conditioner.
If your hair is still frizzy, use more.

I’ve been straighting my hair for years now and have just been missing my curls. I look at old pics and see how fun and playful my hair looked. I’m going to give it a try.
